Door County Medical Center (DCMC) was recognized with ten distinct Excellence in Healthcare Awards for its emergency, inpatient and outpatient services by national healthcare research leader Professional Research Consultants, Inc. (PRC). DCMC leaders will receive the awards during the 2017 Excellence in Healthcare Conference in Austin, Texas on June 22.
Excellence in Healthcare Awards recognize organizations and teams who achieve exceptional outcomes by improving patient experiences and boosting employee and physician engagement. Awards are based on patient surveys and organizational data. DCMC received awards in multiple areas, including overall quality of care in the emergency department, inpatient unit and medical/surgical services; top performer awards for responsiveness of staff and care transition; and five star ratings for hospital environment, physician communication, discharge information, and gastrointestinal outpatient surgery.
DCMC also received the prestigious Platinum Achievement Award, honoring the hospital’s “Door Way to Excellence” program. The program empowers employees to achieve operational and cultural transformation by keeping values of caring, spirituality and service at the center of their work.
“It is an honor to recognize Door County Medical Center with these awards,” said Joe M. Inguanzo, Ph.D., President and CEO of PRC. “It takes true dedication and determination to achieve this level of excellence in healthcare and DCMC has shown their commitment to making their hospital a better place to work, a better place to practice medicine and a better place for patients to be cared for.”
Gerald Worrick, president and CEO of DCMC, says the organization’s culture is at the root of its many awards and achievements. “Our culture of constant improvement, caring and teamwork create one very important result: excellent care for our patients. Every doctor, nurse and team member at DCMC has a stake in what we do, and it shows.”
