Dental Clinic Earns Statewide Recognition

The Wisconsin Hospital Association’s (WHA) foundation has announced that the Door County Medical Center (DCMC) Dental Clinic is a recipient of the WHA Foundation’s 2017 Global Vision Community Partnership Award.
This annual competitive grant award is presented to a community health initiative that successfully addresses a documented community health need. The award, launched by the WHA Foundation in 1995, seeks to recognize and support ongoing projects that support improving the community’s health.
The DCMC Dental Clinic provides oral health care to children and adults from Door and Kewaunee Counties. The clinic is staffed with two dentists, as well as dental hygienists and dental assistants. Clinic costs are underwritten by DCMC, generous community contributions, and grant funding.
The clinic was founded in 1999 in response to a demonstrated community need for accessible dental care. In 2015, more than 3,000 children and adults were served.
“The submissions received by the WHA Foundation each year for consideration for the Global Vision Community Partnership Award are wonderful examples of the types of projects that Wisconsin hospitals sponsor regularly, designed to address a documented need and improve the overall health status of their communities,” said WHA Foundation Executive Director Jennifer Frank.
“We are honored to have received the WHA Foundation Global Vision Award. We are so thankful that every day we are able to help those that are underserved with their oral health needs,” said Tanya Fischer, Door County Medical Center Dental Clinic Manager.

Projects submitted to the WHA Foundation for the Award must be nominated by a WHA member hospital; demonstrate viable partnerships with community entities; utilize creative approaches to meet documented community health needs, and have been in operation for a minimum of two years. Award winners received a commemorative plaque and an unrestricted grant of $2,500 to support the program.
The Door County Medical Center Dental Clinic is located at 228 S. 18th Avenue, Sturgeon Bay.
