David Spude Cancer Center Endowment Fund
The David Spude Cancer Fund perpetually supports the Door County Cancer Center, ensuring that a full range of cancer treatments are available to all who need them in a comforting and peaceful environment close to home.
The fund supports the hundreds of patients who receive care annually at this state-of-the-art-facility. The fund keeps single-occupancy chemotherapy rooms updated with the latest furnishings and equipment, supplies care packages to patients, and ensures a full range of cancer treatments are available.
David Spude, a devoted husband and father, was loved and respected by all who knew him. When he died of cancer in 2004, his family and his employers, the Doerr family, established the David Spude Cancer Fund at the Door County Medical Center Foundation.
Since 2005, the community has donated more than $250,000 to the David Spude Fund, including monies raised through the fund’s major annual fundraiser – the women’s golf event, “Queen for a Day.” Ninety percent of the annual fund income directly benefits the Door County Cancer Center facility, with ten percent being reinvested to ensure perpetual growth.
